Healing the Psyche
We began our journey into the psyche recently. Sometimes we disagree with Sigmund Freud. For instance we feel the ego is held in the soul, which follows us from one lifetime to another. That the personality is basically the same mold each life, and we just change it a bit. We read through the Sacred Contract book that Caroline Myss wrote, and she is very right on with the archetypes and the similarities Lona has seen in her and in me from lifetime to lifetime has been similar in nature.
We first worked on the inner child. We help heal it. We learned, that if someone has not had the nurturing they need in their early years, that the wiring in the brain is not quite the same as those of us who had what we needed. We clear the inner child and integrate the child with our adult side.
Next we found our shadow side, it is like our saboteur. It comes from, we believe, a basic ME instinct. It also has fears that govern our behavior when it comes out to play.
We heal the shadow side fears.
There is also a survivor part of our psyche and we clear the fears from it as well.
We worked on our higher self and found that it also can have fears. Fears for our well-being. It can also be healed. Next integration takes place. These integrations can help balance us as whole human beings. For as in personality traits, each has a good and a not so good side. If our shadow, or inner child is not balanced with us, and are not balanced with each other, disharmony for us prevails. It is hard work, the good thing is, and it can be accomplished in short order. Not taking years on the " couch" so to speak.
At this time we are also working on the Ego, which consists of the Super Ego, Ego and the Id. They all hold fears and protective aspects. The problem seems to be in modern times our defenses have taken over the Ego and we have fears we don't need, fears that bind us.
We are clearing those and integrating them.
The Id is what we are born with; it says, " feed me" and " hold me" and has no regard for anyone but us. Then we develop the ego, which shows us some consideration for others. Some balance with all that. Next we develop the super ego. If it is too strong we develop a strong sense of judgment and ridicule. In other words, " My way or the highway." We are clearing fears from all parts of the ego and balancing them.
We have found that during a huge traumas we tend to put a pieces of our psyche in a box. Retrieving these pieces removes blocks to healing.
One example of this was while working on a Vietnam Veteran the releases for the psyche were far greater than the releases for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD ).
Doing this work could spare you from years on the " couch."
